1961 B.S.A. DBD34 Gold Star

1961 B.S.A. DBD34 Gold Star

Just arrived; one of the very best Goldie’s we’ve ever had in.

Dispatched from the works on 17th February 1961,  this machine first went new to Taylor Dow of Banbury.

All correct and original numbers plus registration number as supplied new. It has  a 190mm Dow “Duetto” twin-leading-shoe front brake, Amal GP carburettor, RR2 gearbox and alloy rims.

Latterly this machine has had no expense spared and in recent years has been equipped with electric-start and modified clutch – all by Phil Pearson Engineering  who has been involved with Gold Stars for over 40 years,  including involvement with Gold Star racers which have been raced at the highest level in the Isle of Man.

This machine is fitted with a special Alton magdyno which combined with a special ND lithium ion battery and modified clutch,  allows highly reliable & accurate engine timing and easy starting.  All this has been achieved whilst importantly retaining the machine’s original appearance.  Lithium ion batteries, although expensive,  are nowadays widely used in classic machinery as they are highly efficient as well as being safer in use as they do  not contain harmful and corrosive acid. The machine comes with its own specific charger to suit which is very easy to use.

A truly stunning example which has the additional benefit of having had a caring long-term owner.

Gold Star Owners Club certificate; also VMCC certificate and original B.S.A Factory brake-test dyno report.

Better photos will follow of this stunning machine when weather improves.
